Linking local & national news headlines on economics and politics, higher education in deindustrializing areas, and farm-to-table food, and Marshall's "75 game"

Always fun when I get a chance to jump on with our friend Joe Catenacci on his Hot Talk Morning Show down in Myrtle Beach, SC. We talk everything from sexy produce and using social media to get your food from the source, to the politics and economics of a tourism-heavy economy, to Joe’s weekend trip up to my old stomping grounds of Huntington, West Virginia for the “75 game” that honors the 1970 plane crash victims of Marshall University as depicted in the “We Are Marshall” movie. We also talk about the need to use higher education to grow the areas they are located in, how housing is the key to growth, and more.

I referenced David Staley’s excellent book Knowledge Towns: Colleges and Universities as Talent Magnets along with Dominic D. J. Endicott about making higher ed an engine for local growth that also ensures the future of schools. Buy it here:

If you aren’t familiar with Marshall or the 75 game, the We Are Marshall movie does a good job with it: It's available on Amazon streaming.
